A short one this time. I love these old cars showing their age. Just like the wrinkles on your face, the dents and scars on your heart. I hope to add some more pictures to this blog next time. This picture I shot with the wonderful Olympus OM2-n, loaded with Portra 400 and converted to black and white.
The picture you are looking at, is one of an old Mercedes Benz Estate (a W123-T to be precise). It is being used as a daily driver by one of my neighbours in Amsterdam and was parked just around the corner when it caught my eye. Battered and used, with quite a lot ‘patina’ (well, dents and rust to be honest), but revealing a beauty many vintage cars can have. Bathing in the evening light, certain details just caught my attention. Like this detail, shot wide open with the Summilux lens…smooth as silk.
As you can see in former posts like this and this one, I have a weak spot for all that’s vintage and cars in general. So when I stumble across a vintage car and I have one of my camera’s with me, I make sure I take a picture. Most of the time pictures like this one, a vintage BMW 5-series parked along one of many canals in Amsterdam. Shot at wide aperture with the Summilux. I like the way this lens renders the in and out of focus area’s so much, it makes me shoot a lot wide open.
