I recently did a shoot to document an event for a market research company. The event was at a well-known trade show, which attracts many customers. The research company has a proposition to its clients that they have real, authentic conversations with their customers, hence their company name ‘TrueTalk’. As panelists often feel intimidated being interviewed by a market researcher, they are inclined to give an answer which they (unconsciously) think they have to give. By creating an informal, kind of loose and freestyle atmosphere, they are able to have spontaneously conversations which were a real treat to capture with my camera. Anyways, one of the students supporting the event asked me if I could take head shots at a network event of his student association. I suggested to make a reportage of the event as well and that was gladly agreed on.
Fast forward to the networking event.
What I and the students have experienced that day, is the very thing that makes photography so beautiful and something that feeds the soul. We all had a glowing look on our face and that resulted in beautiful portraits. Thanks to the sunny day and the large windows in the university building, we had very nice lighting conditions.
I am slowly getting used to the more clean and less crisp files of the M10, compared to the files my beloved M8 and M9 produce. Shooting at ISO 3200 helped also with getting more texture, I think. Below are some examples:
